Senior Diesel Technician Palmerston North
Description
Mobile Mechanical Solutions are looking for qualified diesel technicians to join our Palmerston North team. We are looking for team players with a can do attitude.
Do you want to work for a company who practices open book management, where the numbers are shared, everyone knows what part they can play, with a clear line of sight to the end goal? We are a locally owned and operated Commercial Vehicle service and repair, one stop shop currently in Palmerston North, Masterton and Whanganui. We employ 44 full time staff across our 3 branches. We are the Parts and Service Agents for Scania, MAN, Western Star, Detroit Diesel and Isuzu Truck.
We are looking for a NZ Level 4 Qualified Diesel Technician or someone with no less than 3 years work experience. The role would involve Franchise training, learning about new products and technology. We are looking for the right people to join our team. Experience is essential, you must be a team player, work well with others, be able to work unsupervised, think on your feet, be willing to learn and relate well to people. Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Must have current relevant drivers licences at all times
- Complete jobs in a industry accepted timeframe
- Minimize rework
- Ensure paper work is kept up to date
- Maintain functional relationships with Parts and Service Staff
- Oversee quality control in Workshop
- Ensure MMS is compliant with all relevant and necessary statutory Acts, legal requirements and company policies.
- Continually be looking for ways to promote the company through new products and opportunities
- Grow and maintain MMS current customer base through continuous promotion and selling our range of products and services to both existing and prospective customers.
- Keep up with new products and technologies

Whanganui Parts Manager
Parts Manager – Whanganui Branch Mobile Mechanical Solutions
Mobile Mechanical Solutions is a busy and growing commercial vehicle and heavy equipment parts and service business, we are looking for a Parts Manager to lead our parts department at our Whanganui branch.
We are the authorized service and parts agents for Scania, MAN, Western Star, Detroit, Kobelco and Bobcat, and this role will work closely with both our suppliers and customers across these brands.
This is an important leadership role within our branch, responsible not just for parts sales and stock control, but also for building strong relationships with our workshop team and customers, driving external sales, continually improving how our parts department operates, and contributing to the leadership and direction of the branch and wider company.
About the Role This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the parts department, managing inventory, supporting the workshop, growing parts sales, and making sure processes are followed and improved over time. You will also be part of the leadership team and have input into how the branch and company are run.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the parts department operations External parts sales and developing new customer relationships Work closely with the workshop team to ensure parts are available on time Stock control, ordering, and inventory management Maintain supplier and franchise relationships Continual improvement of systems and processes Grow parts sales and department profitability Ensure company processes and procedures are followed Contribute to branch leadership and business improvement Assist with pricing, margins, and reporting
About You
Previous parts experience in the heavy vehicle, automotive, or machinery industry Strong organization and stock management skills Good communication and relationship-building skills Motivated to grow the parts department and increase sales Process-driven and committed to continual improvement Leadership mindset and team player Positive attitude and strong work ethic

- Build strong relationships with customers and franchise partners including Scania, Iveco, Isuzu, MAN, Western Star Trucks, and Detroit Diesel
- Ensure jobs move efficiently through the system and meet franchise standards
